OURY JALLOH – THAT WAS MURDER!

Oury Jalloh was unlawfully arrested, unlawfully detained and shackled, unlawfully blood drawn, tortured, killed and burned to death by police officers of the Dessau police station on January 7, 2005. In the course of the independent investigation by the Initiative in Remembrance of Oury Jalloh, two other homicide crimes committed by the Dessau police also came to public attention:

  • On December 7, 1997, Hans-Jürgen Rose was severely brutalized at the Dessau police station and subsequently dumped in front of a house entrance in the close neighborhood – he succumbed to his severe internal injuries only a few hours later on December 8, 1997
  • On October 29, 2002, Mario Bichtemann was illegally taken into custody by Dessau police officers and „found“ dead the next day in custody cell no. 5 with a fractured skull base and a fatal brain hemorrhage.

To this day, law enforcement agencies, courts, and state politicians refuse to acknowledge these crimes and draw appropriate criminal consequences. The crimes have remained allegedly „unsolved“, unatoned, without official apologies and without compensation until today!

The brutal, racist murder of brother Oury Jalloh will now be 18 years ago on January 7, 2023.

In the face of the dehumanizing series of murders in the Dessau police station and their systematic impunity, we call on all people and especially our Black and migrant communities to join us in the commemoration demonstration in Dessau to remember those who died and were humiliated in the Dessau murder house, to demand official acknowledgement of the crimes and appropriate prosecution.

The murder, the burning and the previous torture of Oury Jalloh have long been extensively and scientifically proven by a large number of forensic reports – what is missing is the constitutional recognition of the facts and respective consequences.

For 18 years, public prosecutors, courts, and political leaders have sabotaged the investigation ex officio through untenable hypotheses, through systematic suppression and destruction of evidence, through purposeful manipulation of expert opinions and their results, and through deliberate restriction of the lines of investigation and charges.

The Initiative in Remembrance of Oury Jalloh, on the other hand, has impressively demonstrated in these 18 years, on the basis of fire reports, file reports, medical reports and forensic reconstructions, that

  • Oury Jalloh did not have a lighter and the alleged „evidence“ could not have been on death row
  • Oury Jalloh must have been at least incapacitated or unconscious or even already dead at the time of the setting of the fire, since neither fire gases in his blood nor stress factors in his urine were detectable
  • Oury Jalloh received severe head injuries and rib fractures shortly before his death
  • setting fire to the fireproof mattress without accelerant could not be successful from the point of view of fire physics
  • the fire pattern from cell no. 5 could not be achieved without the use of fire accelerant – and
  • that the cell door must probably have been open for the entire duration of the fire.

On Thursday, December 22, 2022, we therefore cordially invite you to an information event together with the Initiative in Remembrance of Oury Jalloh at the International Center B5 (Brigittenstraße 5, 20359 Hamburg-St. Pauli) to inform you about the current state of affairs, to answer your questions and to organize our joint journey to Dessau.

Oury Jalloh wurde am 7. Januar 2005 von Polizeibeamten des Polizeireviers Dessau rechtswidrig verhaftet, rechtswidrig inhaftiert und gefesselt, rechtswidrig Blut abgenommen, gefoltert, getötet und verbrannt. Im Zuge der unabhängigen Aufklärung durch die Initiative in Gedenken an Oury Jalloh wurden auch noch zwei weitere Tötungsverbrechen der Dessauer Polizei bekannt:

  • Am 7. Dezember 1997 wurde Hans-Jürgen Rose im Polizeirevier Dessau schwerst misshandelt und anschließend in der unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft vor einem Hauseingang abgelegt – er erlag nur wenige Stunden später seinen schwersten inneren Verletzungen am 8. Dezember 1997
  • Am 29. Oktober 2002 wurde Mario Bichtemann von Dessauer Polizeibeamten rechtswidrig in Gewahrsam genommen und am Tag darauf tot mit einem Schädelbasisbruch und einer tödlichen Hirnblutung in der Gewahrsamszelle Nr. 5 „aufgefunden“

Bis heute weigern sich die Strafverfolgungsbehörden, Gerichte und die Landespolitik, diese Straftaten anzuerkennen und entsprechende strafrechtliche Konsequenzen zu ziehen. Die Verbrechen sind bis heute angeblich „unaufgeklärt“, ungesühnt, ohne offizielle Entschuldigungen und ohne Entschädigung geblieben!

Der brutale, rassistische Mord an Bruder Oury Jalloh jährt sich am 7. Januar 2023 zum nunmehr 18. Mal.

Im Angesicht der menschenverachtenden Mordserie im Dessauer Polizeirevier und deren systematischer Straflosigkeit rufen wir alle Menschen und insbesondere unsere Schwarzen und migrantischen Communities dazu auf, mit uns gemeinsam zur Gedenkdemonstration nach Dessau zu fahren, um den Toten und Gedemütigten des Dessauer Mordrevieres zu gedenken, die offizielle Anerkennung der Verbrechen und die entsprechende Strafverfolgung einzufordern.

Der Mord, die Verbrennung und die vorherige Folter von Oury Jalloh sind längst umfänglich und wissenschaftlich fundiert durch eine Vielzahl an forensischen Gutachten bewiesen worden – was fehlt ist die rechtsstaatliche Anerkenntnis der Faktenlage und entsprechende Konsequenzen.

Seit 18 Jahren sabotieren Staatsanwaltschaften, Gerichte und politische Verantwortungsträger*innen die Aufklärung von Amts wegen durch unhaltbare Hypothesen, durch systematische Beweismittelunterdrückung und -vernichtung, durch zweckorientierte Manipulationen von Gutachtenaufträgen und –ergebnissen sowie durch zielgerichtete Einschränkung der Ermittlungsrichtungen und Anklagepunkte.

Die Initiative in Gedenken an Oury Jalloh hat in diesen 18 Jahren dagegen anhand von Brandgutachten, Aktengutachten, medizinischen Gutachten und forensischen Rekonstruktionen eindrücklich bewiesen, dass

  • Oury Jalloh kein Feuerzeug hatte und das angebliche „Beweismittel“ nicht in der Todeszelle gewesen sein kann
  • Oury Jalloh zum Zeitpunkt der Brandlegung zumindest handlungsunfähig bzw. bewusstlos oder sogar bereits tot gewesen muss, da weder Brandgase in seinem Blut, noch Stressfaktoren in seinem Urin nachweisbar waren
  • Oury Jalloh kurz vor seinem Tod schwere Kopfverletzungen und Rippenbrüche zugefügt bekam
  • eine Brandlegung an der feuerfesten Matratze ohne Brandbeschleuniger brandphysikalisch nicht erfolgreich sein konnte
  • das Brandbild aus Zelle Nr. 5 ohne die Verwendung von Brandbeschleuniger nicht erreicht werden kann – und
  • dass die Zellentür wahrscheinlich die gesamte Brandzeit über offen gestanden haben muss

Am Donnerstag, den 22.12.2022 laden wir Euch deswegen herzlich zu einer Infoveranstaltung gemeinsam mit der Initiative in Gedenken an Oury Jalloh in das Internationale Zentrum B5 (Brigittenstraße 5, 20359 Hamburg-St. Pauli) ein, um Euch zum aktuellen Stand zu informieren, Eure Fragen zu beantworten und die gemeinsame Anreise am 7. Januar 2023 nach Dessau zu organisieren.

JEDES KIND VERDIENT EINEN SICHEREN PLATZ ZUM LEBEN

Daniel († 18 Monate) – Fahrer überfährt und überrollt das hinter seinem Fahrzeug spielende Kind

Mit tiefer Trauer und aufrichtiger Anteilnahme teilen wir mit, dass Daniel, ein Nigerianischer Junge im Alter von nur 18 Monaten, am Freitag, den 24. Juni 2022 vormittags auf dem Gelände der Container-Unterkunft Curslacker Neuer Deich in Hamburg-Bergedorf von einem Autofahrer beim Rückwärtsfahren auf dem Zufahrtsweg zu den Wohn-Containern überfahren und getötet wurde. Wiederbelebungsversuche blieben erfolglos – das Kind starb an schweren Kopfverletzungen.

Die Mutter des Jungen war unmittelbare Zeugin des Unfalls und hatte noch versucht, Daniel zu warnen und den Fahrer durch lautes Rufen zu stoppen. Die Familie steht unter Schock und betrauert den tragischen Verlust ihres Kindes und kleinen Bruders.

Call for solidarity and equal treatment of all refugees of the Ukraine war

The war in Ukraine has forced millions of people to flee war-torn areas, and many more are currently either unable to escape the hostilities or are still on the run.

Unfortunately, people of African Descent have experienced racial discrimination, horrific treatment, and violence at the EU’s external and internal borders, and exclusion from public transportation as they have fled. In particular, people of African descent were excluded from intra-Ukrainian train and bus travel and were forced to trek for days with children and in freezing temperatures. Families and circles of friends were sometimes separated or torn apart. At Ukrainian borders, Blacks were prevented from leaving the country for days at a time and were left to fend for themselves without shelter from the cold and wet. Once again Black people face a double-sided sword of war and racism.

Due to this unbearable situation for people of African Descent in war-torn Ukraine, our Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defense joined the rescue action #EvacuateAfricansFromUA, initiated by Asmaras – World e.V.  and the Association of Mandate Bearers of African Descent [VMA] e.V., in collaboration with The African Network of Germany [TANG] e.V..

Within the framework of this rescue operation, we participated logistically and organizationally in the rescue operation by traveling with the bus convoys to the Polish-Ukrainian border and bringing back refugees. In the last three weeks, we have self-organized accommodation, medical consultations, legal advice, crisis intervention, psychological counselling and for African refugees, as well as care for Ukraine war refugees of other origins.

Since the European states offered immediate, unconditional assistance to war refugees from Ukraine right from the beginning only to people with Ukrainian citizenship and people with permanent residence permits in Ukraine, all other war refugees like students or temporary residence permit holders were unequivocally signalled by the border authorities of neighboring states that they were not welcome, would not receive official assistance, and must leave the EU-Schengen area as soon as possible.

The Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defence condemns the unequal treatment of vulnerable people who have all been equally affected by the war in Ukraine and we demand that unconditional and equal protection be distributed regardless of nationality or residence status at the time of the start of the war on February 24, 2022.

Dividing war refugees into groups of those worthy of protection and those groups not worthy of protection is a painful double standard that is neither acceptable nor consistent with universal human rights. The affected and marginalized people have found themselves in this war situation through no fault of their own, and they were all driven out of what they thought was a safe home in Ukraine where they had legalized residency conditions.

The consensual and immediate offer of protection for war refugees with Ukrainian citizenship must be followed by comparable offers of protection for ALL other victims of this European war if the much-invoked European values and principles of humanity and equal treatment are to be taken seriously, especially when war and hardship make it particularly necessary.

Against this backdrop, we take note of the transitional regulation issued by the German government on March 7, 2022, according to which Ukrainian war refugees from third countries are to be temporarily exempted from the requirement of a residence permit until May 23, 2022, although the arbitrary setting of a deadline without reference to the end of the Ukrainian war seems neither appropriate nor comprehensible. What happens after May 23, 2022?

We point out that a temporary exemption is no guarantee for a residence permit – after the deadline expires, there is a risk that registered persons will be obliged to leave the country again or will be forcibly deported. This is not acceptable. It is a shame if the German authorities fail to challenge the violence of migration policy and choose to use citizenship as a racializing weapon.

We draw particular attention to the plight of pregnant women and also children. Children and their families, regardless of their nationality and especially when fleeing war, should be given priority and equal treatment and urgently receive humanitarian assistance, protection and child-friendly housing and education.

We demand

– Residence permits for ALL people affected and displaced by the war in Ukraine

– immediate right to stay for pregnant women, children and families

– immediate and unconditional access to medical and psychological care

– possibilities to receive BAföG or scholarships for ALL students affected by the Ukraine war

– issuance of work and student permits to complete or continue studies

as to enable all people affected by this extraordinary war situation to live a largely self-determined life in Germany.

Students among the non-Ukrainian nationals who had to flee from the war already had to bear and traumatic experiences and financial burdens for their respective studies in Ukraine. We demand the exploration of all possibilities to avoid financial double burdens for normative study access here in Germany and to create regulations for the transitional continuation of their courses of study interrupted by war as well as for the acquisition of the necessary language skills.

The registration of African students and nationals of third countries other than Ukraine who were legally in Ukraine at the time of the outbreak of war should be carried out without forcing them to apply for asylum.

We would like to appeal to all people of African origin and the Afro-diasporic communities national associations, churches, mosques, etc. to join the demands formulated here to the federal and state politicians and to organise together. Refugee work for the most neglected groups needs all of our commitment and networking so that the available resources can be optimally used and coordinated.

We thank Hamburg’s civil society, anti-racist organisations, labour unions, student organisations for the extraordinary solidarity and concrete willingness to help, especially those people who have been racially marginalised alongside the unspeakable traumas of war.

The German government has a responsibility to ensure that ALL refugees not only have safety but also equal access to rebuild their life and heal in dignity. Majority of „Africans Fleeing Ukraine“ can barely survive in Hamburg without self-organised civil society solidarity measures.

The refugee crisis in Ukraine is not only an important opportunity for Germany and Europe to demonstrate its humanitarian values and commitment to the global refugee protection regime, but also a critical moment of reflection. It is a question of political and humanitarian decision-making at the federal and state level as to how the effective and equal protection of all Ukrainian war refugees can be concretely designed and implemented.

This is not the time for legal restrictions and false demarcations. We call for a wholesome ethic of care and responsibility.

Grant full protection to ALL refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.

Aufruf für Solidarität und Gleichbehandlung aller Geflüchteten des Ukraine-Krieges

Hamburg, den 9. März 2022

Der Krieg in der Ukraine hat Millionen von Menschen zur Flucht aus den Kriegsgebieten gezwungen und viele weitere sind derzeit entweder noch nicht in der Lage, den kriegerischen Kampfhandlungen zu entfliehen oder befinden sich noch auf der Flucht.

Leider mussten Menschen Nicht-Ukrainischer Staatsangehörigkeiten bereits auf ihrer Flucht rassistische Diskriminierungen an den EU-Außen- und Binnengrenzen und Ausgrenzungen aus öffentlichen Transportmitteln erfahren. Besonders Menschen Afrikanischer Herkunft wurden von innerukrainischen Zug- und Busreisen ausgeschlossen und waren so gezwungen teilweise tagelange Fußmärsche mit Kindern und bei eisigen Temperaturen zurückzulegen. Familien und Freundeskreise wurden teilweise getrennt bzw. auseinandergerissen. An den ukrainischen Grenzen wurden Schwarze Menschen tagelang an ihrer Ausreise gehindert und ohne Schutz vor Kälte und Nässe sich selbst überlassen.

Aufgrund dieser unerträglichen Situation für Menschen Afrikanischer Herkunft im Kriegsland Ukraine hat sich unsere Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defence logistisch und organisatorisch an der Rettungsaktion #EvacuateAfricansFromUA beteiligt, welche durch Asmaras – World e.V. in Zusammenarbeit mit der Vereinigung Mandatsträger*innen Afrikanischer Abstammung [VMA] e.V. und The African Network of Germany e.V. [TANG]) ins Leben gerufen wurde. Im Rahmen dieser Rettungsaktion wurden Bus-Konvois, die selbstorganisierte Unterbringung, Versorgung und Beratung von Ukraine-Geflüchteten Afrikanischer und anderer Herkunft organisiert.

Da die umgehend ausgesprochenen, bedingungslosen Hilfsangebote für Geflüchtete aus dem Ukraine-Krieg von vornherein nur für Menschen mit ukrainischer Staatsbürgerschaft und Menschen mit unbegrenzter Aufenthaltserlaubnis in der Ukraine galten, wurde allen anderen Flüchtenden aus der Ukraine durch die Grenzbehörden der Nachbarstaaten unmissverständlich bekannt gegeben, dass sie nicht willkommen sind, keine offizielle Hilfe erhalten werden und schnellstmöglich wieder aus dem EU-Schengen-Raum auszureisen haben.

Die Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defence verurteilt die Ungleichbehandlung von Menschen, die alle gleichermaßen vom Krieg in der Ukraine betroffen sind und fordert den bedingungslosen und gleichwertigen Schutz von allen Geflüchteten aus dem Ukraine-Krieg unabhängig von deren Nationalität oder Aufenthaltsstatus in der Ukraine zum Zeitpunkt des Kriegsbeginns am 24. Februar 2022. Eine Klassifizierung von Kriegsflüchtenden mit Abwertung des Schutzanspruches von Menschen bzw. Menschengruppen ist weder akzeptabel, noch mit den universellen Menschenrechten vereinbar. Die betroffenen, aber ausgegrenzten Menschen sind ohne eigenes Zutun in diesen Krieg geraten und sind allesamt aus ihrem bis dahin sicher geglaubten Leben mit legalisierten Aufenthaltsverhältnissen in der Ukraine vertrieben worden. Dem einvernehmlichen und unmittelbaren Schutzangebot für Kriegsgeflüchtete mit ukrainischer Staatsbürgerschaft müssen vergleichbare Hilfsangebote für alle anderen Betroffenen dieses europäischen Krieges folgen, wenn die viel gepriesenen Europäischen Werte und Prinzipien der Humanität und Gleichbehandlung auch und gerade dann ernst gemeint sind, wenn es Krieg und Not im besonderen Maße gebieten.

Vor diesem Hintergrund begrüßt unsere Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defence die heute von der Bundesregierung erlassene, vorübergehende Regelung, auch Ukraine-Kriegsgeflüchteten aus Drittstaaten eine vorübergehende Aufenthaltsgestattung bis 23. Mai 2022 zu erteilen, wobei die willkürliche Fristsetzung ohne Bezugnahme auf die Beendigung des Ukraine-Krieges weder angemessen, noch in der Sache nachvollziehbar erscheint. Wir möchten an dieser Stelle jedoch auch betonen, dass diese „vorübergehende Befreiung vom Erfordernis eines Aufenthaltstitels“ lediglich den Zugang zu medizinischer Grundversorgung sowie die Möglichkeit zur Beantragung von sog. Überbrückungsleistungen aus der Sozialkasse ermöglichen sollen, wenn man sich registrieren lässt. Nach Ablauf der Frist sind registrierte Personen erneut unverzüglich ausreisepflichtig und können unter Umständen auch zwangsweise abgeschoben werden.

BMI – Verordnung zur vorübergehenden Befreiung vom Erfordernis eines Aufenthaltstitels von anlässlich des Krieges in der Ukraine eingereisten Personen (Ukraine-Aufenthalts-Übergangsverordnung – UkraineAufenthÜV) vom 7. März 2022

Die Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defence und die selbstorganisierte Initiative ARRiVATi – Community Care für Menschen Afrikanischer Herkunft fordern ein Bleiberecht für alle vom Ukraine-Krieg betroffenen und vertriebenen Menschen, deren Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung und psychologischer Betreuung, die Erteilung von Arbeits- und Studienerlaubnissen und die Möglichkeit zur Teilnahme an Sprachkursen, um den Menschen ein weitgehend selbstbestimmtes Leben in Deutschland während dieser außerordentlichen Kriegssituation in der Ukraine zu ermöglichen. Da es unter den betroffenen nicht-ukrainischen Staatsbürger*innen einen hohen Anteil an Student*innen gibt, die bereits in der Ukraine erhebliche finanzielle Belastungen für ihr jeweiliges Studium tragen mussten, fordern wir die Prüfung aller Möglichkeiten, um finanzielle Doppelbelastungen in den normativen Studienzugängen hier in Deutschland zu vermeiden und Regelungen für eine außerordentliche Gewährung von BAföG und Stipendien zur übergangsweisen Fortsetzung der in der Ukraine gewaltsam unterbrochenen Studiengänge bzw. zum Erwerb der erforderlichen Sprachkompetenzen zu schaffen.

Die Registrierung von Staatenlosen und Staatsangehörigen anderer Drittländer als der Ukraine, die sich zum Zeitpunkt des Kriegsausbruches rechtmäßig in der Ukraine aufgehalten haben, sollte ohne Zwang zur Stellung eines Asylantrages erfolgen, um weitere existenzielle Unsicherheiten für die unverschuldet Betroffenen zu minimieren. Es ist eine Frage der politischen und humanitären Willensbildung auf Bundes- und Landesebene, wie der effektive und gleichberechtigte Schutz von allen Ukraine-Krieg-Geflüchteten konkret ausgestaltet und umgesetzt werden kann.

Wir appellieren insbesondere an alle Menschen Afrikanischer Herkunft und die Afrodiasporischen Communities und Organisationen, Afrikanische Landesverbände, Kirchen, Moscheen u.a. sich den hier formulierten Forderungen der Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defence an die Bundes- und Landespolitik anzuschließen und uns gemeinsam zu organisieren. Die Geflüchtetenfürsorge der am meisten vernachlässigten Gruppen bedarf unser aller Engagement und Vernetzung, damit die vorhandenen Ressourcen bestmöglich genutzt und koordiniert werden können. Im Zentrum unserer Bemühungen stehen die tatsächlichen Bedürfnisse der geflüchteten Neu-Hamburger*innen, um deren Teilhabe an einem „normalen“ Leben in Hamburg besser und zielführender unterstützen zu können.

Wir bedanken uns bei der Hamburger Zivilgesellschaft für die bereits bisher geleistete, außerordentliche Solidarität und konkrete Hilfsbereitschaft auch und gerade für diejenigen Menschen, die über die unsäglichen Kriegstraumata hinaus noch zusätzlich rassistisch ausgegrenzt worden sind.

Die Initiative in Gedenken an Oury Jalloh (https://initiativeouryjalloh.wordpress.com/) hat am 3. November 2021 ihr mittlerweile fünftes zivilgesellschaftlich beauftragtes Gutachten im Fall Oury Jalloh vorgestellt. Dieses Brandgutachten des renommierten britischen Brandforensikers Iain Peck von den Principal Forensic Services UK beruht auf den Erkenntnissen aus einer detailgetreuen Rekonstruktion der Situation in der Todeszelle Nr. 5 des Dessauer Polizeireviers am 7. Januar 2005 in einem originalgetreuen Zellennachbau dieser Zelle. Peck weist damit forensisch und wissenschaftlich fundiert nach, dass das Brandbild des 7. Januar 2005 nur unter Verwendung eines Brandbeschleunigers entstanden sein kann:

The Africa Unity Week is a programme of the BLACK COMMUNITY  Coalition for Justice & Self-Defence organized to unify and support all People of African Descent as they celebrate Africa Day.

During the Africa Unity Week the aim is:

  • join the world wide commemoration and to celebrate the identity and heritage of people of African descent living in Germany
  • to promote self-determination by celebrating and supporting Black business and organisations in Germany
  • to create a forum for dialogue and exchange of ideas and experiences on issues of common interest affecting not only the Black Community in Germany, but also the Mother Continent and other Black Diaspora

Kehinde Andrews (PhD Sociology and Cultural Studies | MA Social Research | BSc Psychology) is Professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University and director of the Centre for Critical Social Research. His research focuses on resistance to racism and grassroots organisations. As an activist, who led the development of the Black Studies degree, he is founder of the Harambee Organisation of Black Unity and co-chair of the Black Studies Association. And he is an author of a number of books: “Resisting Racism – Race, inequality, and the Black supplementary school movement” [2013], “Blackness in Britain” [2016], “Back to Black – Black Radicalism for the 21st Century” [2018], “The New Age of Empire – How Racism and Colonialism Still Rule the World” [2021]. Kehinde has written opinion pieces for outlets including The Guardian, The Independent, The Washington Post, CNN, The New Statesman and others.

Our children are not included in German school curricula, let alone receive an adequate education about African or Black history. As a result, they lack confidence in our cultures and cultural heritage….

How can we Black communities start to cooperate and organize to change this?

Panelists of educational practices from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Haiti, UK, US, Netherlands and Germany:

Lilian Debrah is an educator and researcher based in the UK. In her research she is focusing on Afrocentric education. She was born in Munich and relocated to England 2013. She is a Panafricanist and Vice President of GPAN -Global Pan Africanism Network.

Dr. Rahab Njeri (Kenya) studied British and North American History, African Studies, and English Studies at the University of Cologne from 2008-2013. Her research fields and academic interest are Black Feminism, Africana Womanist, Postcolonial Studies, Critical Whiteness Studies, Black Diaspora, Migration Studies, Gender Studies, and Afrikana Studies. Currently, she is teaching at the Gender institute in Köln University Germany. She is a mother of two children.

Odilia Anyachi (Kenya/NL) is translator and teacher of Medical, General and Business Swahili and an author of Swahili grammar books, passionate lover of African History, culture, and Languages. After noticing that children adopted from Africa, needed to learn more about their African roots among other things, She established the International African school ( Afrikaanse School), a knowledge institution and place for the regeneration and reclaiming of African cultures and the value of its historical content and context. It offers language courses in Swahili and provides a space to validate what has been invalidated for centuries by educating about African cultures and honouring the wisdom of the Ancestors.

Mario Saint Fleur, MBA (Haiti | US) is currently a teacher at Deutsch- Französisches Gymnasium (École Française de Hambourg Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) in Hartsprung 23 in Hamburg, Germany. His aspirations, goals and objectives as a teacher are values, dignity, truthfulness, fairness, responsibility and freedom. All teaching is founded on ethics, whether it is teacher- student relationships, pluralism or a theacher’s relationship with their work. Dignity means respect for humanity.

Jethro Chikato, Ing (Zimbabwe) is based in Hamburg, Germany – Director and Educator of “The English Language Center“ a Language school providing supplementary educational services and medial help to marginalized students especially of African Descent in subjects such as English and German language, Mathematics, Science subjects and Computer Science. Services are offered before or after school, on weekends, or in the school holidays. He feels responsibility to give back to our community and help our children to make it in this society.

Nachdem sie bemerkte, dass Kinder, die aus Afrika adoptiert wurden, unter anderem mehr über ihre afrikanischen Wurzeln lernen mussten, gründete sie die Internationale Afrikanische Schule ( Afrikaanse School), eine Wissensinstitution und ein Ort für die Wiederbelebung und Rückgewinnung der afrikanischen Kulturen und des Wertes ihrer historischen Inhalte und Zusammenhänge. Sie bietet Sprachkurse in Swahili an und bietet einen Raum, um zu validieren, was jahrhundertelang für ungültig erklärt wurde, indem sie über afrikanische Kulturen aufklärt und die Weisheit der Vorfahren ehrt.

Mario Saint Fleur, MBA (Haiti | US) ist derzeit Lehrer am Deutsch-Französischen Gymnasium (École Française de Hambourg Antoine de Saint-Exupéry) in Hamburg, Deutschland. Seine Bestrebungen und Ziele als Lehrer sind Werte, Würde, Wahrhaftigkeit, Fairness, Verantwortung und Freiheit. Jeder Unterricht basiert auf Ethik, sei es die Lehrer-Schüler-Beziehung, der Pluralismus oder die Beziehung des Lehrers zu seiner Arbeit. Würde bedeutet Respekt vor dem Menschen.

Jethro Chikato, Ing (Simbabwe) lebt in Hamburg, Deutschland und ist Direktor und Pädagoge des „English Language Center“, einer Sprachschule, die ergänzende Bildungsdienste und unterstützende Hilfe für marginalisierte Schüler*innen, insbesondere afrikanischer Abstammung, in Fächern wie Englisch und Deutsch, Mathematik, naturwissenschaftlichen Fächern und Computerwissenschaften anbietet. Der Unterricht wird vor oder nach der Schule, an Wochenenden oder in den Schulferien angeboten. Er fühlt sich verantwortlich, unserer Gemeinschaft etwas zurückzugeben und unseren Kindern zu helfen, es in dieser Gesellschaft zu schaffen.

WORKSHOP „All Youth against Police Brutality & Racism“  (Teil I)

Die Gewalt, die immer wieder durch die Polizei Hamburg ausgeübt wird, findet innerhalb des politischen Systems von Hamburg und Deutschland statt. Durch diese Gewalt wird der systemische Rassismus mit rassistischen Polizeikontrollen von marginalisierten Schwarzen Männern (Racial Profiling) reproduziert, sowie eine militarisierte Polizeipräsenz und Überwachung hergestellt, die das Risiko erhöhen, dass erneut BIPoC rassifizierte Polizei Gewalt erfahren.

Hintergrund

Politisch aktive junge AktivistInnen erfahren extreme Gewalt ganz besonders dann, wenn sie nicht Weiß sind. So wurden nach der #BlackLivesMatter-Demonstration am 6. Juni 2020 am Hauptbahnhof 36 Kinder und Jugendliche verhaftet, während andere Aktivist*innen durch die militarisierte Hamburger Polizei verprügelt und eingeschüchtert wurden und dadurch körperlichen Schaden nahmen. Ein Jahr später, wurden nun Asad und Musa auf dem Heimweg nach der #BlackLivesStillMatter-Kundgebung am 10. April 2021 an der Balduintreppe, von mehreren Polizisten gewaltvoll eingekesselt. Hierdurch erfuhr Musa Verletzungen, die zu einem Krankenhausaufenthalt führten. Im Sommer 2020 wurde ein 15-jähriger Junge von 8 Polizist*innen gewaltvoll eingeschüchtert und zu Boden geworfen, weil er mit einem E-Roller auf dem Bürgersteig fuhr. Oder der Altenpfleger John H., der von zivil gekleideten Polizisten vom Fahrrad gerissen und verletzt wurde, da er sich nach ihrer Ansicht durch die Ausübung seiner Pflegearbeit „verdächtig“ verhielt. Oder auch der Vorfall im Februar dieses Jahres, im Jenisch Park, wo ein Polizeiauto einen 17-jähriger Jungen rücksichtslos verfolgte, weil er seine Freunde ohne Maske umarmt hatte und dabei unter Beschädigung des Wagens mögliche Verletzungen der fußläufigen Polizist*innen und des Verfolgten fahrlässig in Kauf nahm.

Workshop – Beschreibung

Um die polizeiliche und politische Gewalt zu verstehen, wird der erste Workshop „All Youth Against Police Brutality“ mit Unterstützung von Brother Ogun Babadele eine Reflektion zur Kontinuität der Gewalttaten der Polizei in Hamburg und darüber hinaus geben, die politischen Motivationen hinter diesen „polizeilichen Maßnahmen“ betrachten, Informationen und Erfahrungswerte zur Rechtmäßigkeit und Straflosigkeit von Polizeigewalt erläutern sowie darüber aufklären, was deine Rechte sind wenn du Gewalt erfährst oder wie Du anderen Betroffenen am besten helfen kannst.

Brother Ogun Babadele ist Teil der Annwohner*inneninitiative Balduintreppe und befasst sich seit Jahren mit der Dynamik und Logik hinter polizeilichen Eingriffen gegen junge Schwarze Männer in St. Pauli Süd, die letztlich zu der Ermordung von Yaya Jabbi 2016 führten.

WORKSHOP „All Youth against Police Brutality & Racism“  (Part I)

The violence that is repeatedly carried out by the Hamburg police, takes place within the political system of Hamburg and Germany. Systemic racism is reproduced through these demonstrations of power. Racist police stop & frisk of marginalized Black men (Racial Profiling), as well as militarized police presence and surveillance increases the risk of BIPoC to experience repetitive racialized police violence.

Background

Politically active young activists experience brutal and extreme violence at the hands of the police, especially if they are not white. Groups of minors were arrested after the Black Lives Matter Demonstrations on the 6th of June 2020, other activists were brutalized, intimidated, now having to face charges for the violence they had actually to endure from the hands of the police. Musa and Asad were accosted, on their way home, by multiple police officers, for speaking up during the #BlackLivesStillMatter
Demonstration on the 10th of April 2021. Resulting in injuries for which Musa had to stay in the hospital overnight. In Summer of 2020, the pointless and unnecessarily drastic measures taken against the 15-year-old boy who was, consequently, pushed to the ground and accosted by multiple police officers for driving a scooter on the sidewalk. Or the caregiver who was tackled to the ground by two police officers for “looking suspicious” (aka for being black). Or recently, the incident in Jenisch Park in February of this
year, in which a 17-year-old boy was crazily and violently chased by a police car and multiple officers, for hugging his friends without a mask.

Workshop description

The All Youth against Police Brutality workshop series are about police and political violence, reflecting on the continuity of police violence in Hamburg and beyond, looking at the political motivations behind these „police actions“, provide information and experiences on legality and impunity of police violence as well as educate on what your rights are when you experience violence or how you can best help others.

With the help of Brother Ogun Babadele, who is part of the Neighborhood-Initiative Balduintreppe we will try to understand the dynamics and the logics of police actions against young black men in St. Pauli Süd, which ultimately killed Yaya Jabbi in 2016.
